KATHY BORRUS is the former Assistant Director/Merchandise Manager for the Smithsonian Institution Museum Shops where she coordinated all merchandising activities for 25 shops in 12 diverse museums with an annual volume of $30 million. Currently, she is a retail marketing consultant and freelance writer. Based in Washington, DC, she specializes in merchandising and product development for specialty retailers, manufacturers, and craftspeople.
Author of One Thousand Buildings of Paris, The Fearless Shopper, and co-author of The Business of Crafts, she speaks internationally on merchandising and marketing topics. Her writing has appeared in The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Washington Flyer, Niche, Art Business News, and The Crafts Report.
